What NeuroVerify Can Do For You

At NeuroVerify we are dedicated to helping our clients, both adults and children, through individual assessment and evidence-based treatments planned out and tailored for your specific needs

Adolescent
Neurodiversity Screening UK

School can be one of the most challenging environments in the world for a neurodivergent young person.

The social complexity. The sensory demands. The expectation to sit still, pay attention, transition between subjects, manage homework, regulate emotions, and make and keep friends all at the same time, every day, in an environment that was not designed for the way their brain works.

Some young people show this on the surface and they are labelled disruptive, impulsive, unable to focus. Others hide it entirely — they work three times as hard as their peers to appear fine, holding themselves together through the school day and falling apart at home. Many are somewhere in between — struggling in some areas, managing in others, consistently misunderstood in both.

If your child is in any of these categories and you sense that something is being missed, NeuroVerify's adolescent pathway is designed to give you answers — and to give your child the understanding that can change how the rest of their education, and the rest of their life, unfolds.

Who Is Adolescent Screening For?

Our adolescent pathway is for young people aged 12 to 15 whose parents or carers are seeking a clearer picture of their neuroprofile. It may be right for your child if they:

  • Struggle significantly with attention, organisation, or completing tasks despite appearing capable
  • Find social situations confusing, exhausting, or deeply uncomfortable
  • Have sensory sensitivities that affect their daily life — to noise, texture, light, or other stimuli
  • Become intensely focused on specific interests while struggling to engage with anything outside them
  • Have significant difficulty with emotional regulation — meltdowns, shutdowns, or intense emotional responses that feel disproportionate
  • Are performing below their apparent academic potential without a clear explanation
  • Have received school reports that describe them as disruptive, distracted, daydreaming, or not trying
  • Have been assessed previously and found not to meet criteria but continue to struggle significantly
  • Have a sibling or parent with ADHD or autism
  • Appear fine at school but are consistently distressed or exhausted at home — a common pattern in young people who are masking at school

Using Your Childs Report

A NeuroVerify adolescent report is a document written to open doors. Here is what you can do with it:

With your GP Your report provides a strong clinical basis for a GP referral for formal NHS assessment or a referral to a private diagnostic service. It is particularly useful in helping GPs understand the neurodevelopmental basis of a young person's difficulties.

With your child's school SENCO Schools are required under the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice to identify and support pupils with special educational needs. A NeuroVerify report provides the clinical basis for a SENCO conversation about what support your child needs.

With exam boards Your report can support applications for access arrangements in exams including extra time, rest breaks, a reader, or a separate room.

We Use the Latest
Evidence‑Based Clinical Tools

At NeuroVerify, we use gold‑standard, internationally recognised assessment tools to ensure every screening is accurate, reliable, and aligned with current clinical practice. These tools are widely used by psychologists, clinicians, and specialist services across the UK and internationally. They help us build a clear picture of strengths, needs, and everyday functioning — so you can feel confident in the results.

  • The BASC‑3 is one of the most comprehensive behavioural screening tools available. It gathers insights from parents, teachers, and young people to understand.
  • Conners 4 is the leading evidence‑based tool for identifying attention‑related differences.

A Note On SafeGuarding

The safety and wellbeing of young people is our highest priority.

All adolescent screening includes our full safeguarding protocol. If any results indicate that a young person may be at risk — including any indication of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or severe mental health distress — our clinical team will contact the parent or guardian directly as a priority and provide appropriate support and escalation guidance.

All NeuroVerify staff working with young people have undergone enhanced DBS checks. Our safeguarding lead is available throughout the working day. Our full safeguarding policy is available on our website.

A Note To Those
Who Are Still Wondering

If you have read this far and you are sitting with a question about yourself, or about someone you love, we want to say this directly:

Your experience is real. The difficulty you have felt is real. The exhaustion of performing neurotypicality in a world that was not designed for you is real. And the question you are carrying, however long you have been carrying it, deserves a proper answer.

You do not have to have certainty before you start. You do not have to have a clear idea of what you are looking for. You just have to be willing to find out.

NEUROVERIFY is here when you are ready.
