Do I need a GP referral to use NeuroVerify?
No. You can self-refer to NeuroVerify without a GP referral. You simply register on our website and choose your screening assessment.
We Are NHS Aligned
In the UK, formal diagnosis status can only be signed by an NHS‑recognised clinician (i.e HCPC/NHS clinical psychologist). While our assessments meet all NHS NICE clinical guidelines and use Pearsons Clinical diagnostic assessments, it is not a signed diagnosis. It is designed to be a clear, organised, and clinically aligned summary assessment ready for review and immediate sign off so you can start taking action today.
Is NeuroVerify aligned?
All NeuroVerify staff hold appropriate professional qualifications and are registered with their relevant professional body. Our screening process is aligned with NICE guidelines CG142 and NG87 for autism and ADHD, respectively. NeuroVerify operates in full compliance with UK GDPR
Who are the NeuroVerify assessors?
Our team includes experienced practitioners with backgrounds in neurodevelopmental assessment, clinical psychology, occupational health, and educational psychology. All our staff are professionally registered, hold appropriate qualifications, and work within a structured supervision and quality assurance framework. Many members of our team are neurodivergent themselves.
What ages do you screen?
We screen individuals from age 12 upwards across three tiers adolescent (12–17), young adult (20–25), and adult (26+ and over). Each tier uses age-appropriate validated screening tools and a tailored clinical approach.
Is NeuroVerify suitable for women and non-binary individuals?
Yes and this is something we have specifically designed for. Women and non-binary individuals are significantly more likely to be missed by standard neurodevelopmental screening and assessment because the diagnostic criteria were historically built on male presentations. Our screening suite specifically includes the CAT-Q masking measure, which identifies the camouflaging of neurodivergent traits that causes many women and non-binary people to be missed. We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach that is sensitive to the specific ways autism and ADHD present across genders.
Can NeuroVerify screen for conditions other than ADHD and autism?
Our screening suite is specifically designed for ADHD, autism, and AuDHD, the co-occurrence of both. We also screen for anxiety and depression as part of every pathway, because these are extremely common secondary presentations in neurodivergent people and the relationship between them and the neurodevelopmental profile is clinically important. We do not currently screen for other conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or dyscalculia as standalone presentations.
I have already been diagnosed with ADHD or autism. Can I still use NeuroVerify?
Yes. Some people who already have a diagnosis use NeuroVerify to explore whether they might also have the other condition, for example, an autistic person who suspects they also have ADHD. Others use our service to get a more detailed neuroprofile than their diagnosis provided, or to access our coaching session. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation.
THE SCREENING PROCESS
What does the NeuroVerify process involve?
NeuroVerify operates a five-stage pathway. Stage 1 is the online screening suite, a series of validated questionnaires completed at your own pace. Stage 2 is a semi-structured interview with one of our assessors. Stage 3 is a feedback session where your clinician explains your results. Stage 4 is your written report. Stage 5 is an optional coaching session. Depending on the package you choose, you may complete all five stages or just the first one.
How long does the process take?
Stage 1 can be completed in approximately 60 minutes for adults and young adults. The full pathway from registration to written report typically takes 3 to 6 weeks.
What happens in the semi-structured interview?
The clinical interview is a 60 to 90 minute structured conversation with your NeuroVerify assessor, conducted by secure video call or in person. Your assessor will have reviewed your Stage 1 results in advance and will use them to guide a conversation covering your developmental history, school experience, social communication, sensory processing, attention and executive functioning, emotional regulation, masking, and the current impact of your difficulties on your daily life. There are no right or wrong answers. You are the expert on your own experience.
Can I have someone with me during the interview?
Yes. You are welcome to have a trusted person with you for support at any stage of the process. Please let us know in advance so we can accommodate this.
What if I need adjustments to complete the screening?
We are committed to making our service accessible. Please tell us at registration if you need any adjustments — including extended time, larger text, a paper version of the questionnaires, written questions rather than a live interview, communication differences the clinician should be aware of, breaks during sessions, or any other adjustment. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Can I start with screening only and add further stages later?
Yes. You can begin with Stage 1 screening only and decide what to do next after you receive your results. You can upgrade to further stages at any time and will only pay the difference between what you have already paid and the full package price.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my interview?
Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice at no charge. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice may be subject to a £50 administration fee. Stage 1 screening fees are non-refundable once screening has been started. For full details please see our Terms of Service.
Is the interview available in languages other than English?
Please contact us before booking if English is not your first language. We will do our best to advise on available options and to make appropriate adjustments.
YOUR RESULTS
What will my results tell me?
Your results will tell you what your screening scores indicate across each tool, how those scores relate to each other, what the combined picture suggests about your neuroprofile, whether your results indicate that a referral for formal assessment is recommended, and what your recommended next step is. Your results will not tell you whether you have ADHD or autism — that requires a formal diagnostic assessment.
What does a positive screen mean?
A positive screen means your results are consistent with a presentation of ADHD, autism, or AuDHD at a level that warrants referral for a full diagnostic assessment. It does not mean you definitely have that condition. It means the evidence from your screening is sufficient to recommend that you pursue formal assessment.
What does a below-threshold result mean?
A below-threshold result means your screening scores do not indicate that a referral for formal assessment is recommended at this time. It does not mean there is nothing going on. Your clinician will explain what your results do indicate — which may include anxiety, depression, executive functioning difficulties, or the possibility that masking is concealing neurodivergent traits. A below-threshold result is always explained in context, never simply returned as a number.
What is masking and how does it affect my results?
Masking is the process of hiding or compensating for neurodivergent traits in social situations — often developed from childhood as a response to social pressure. It is extremely common in autistic people and in people with ADHD, and particularly common in women and non-binary individuals. High levels of masking can cause standard screening tools to undercount neurodivergent traits — meaning your results may be lower than they would be if you were not masking. This is why we specifically include the CAT-Q masking measure in our suite and why a high masking score changes how we interpret your other results.
Will my results be accepted by the NHS?
NeuroVerify reports are clinically interpreted screening reports, not formal diagnostic assessments. They are not the same as an NHS or private diagnostic report. However, they are produced to a clinical standard and are suitable for sharing with your GP to support a referral request for formal assessment. We cannot guarantee how individual GPs or NHS services will respond to third-party reports, but many clients have found that their NeuroVerify report has supported a successful referral.
Can I share my report with my employer?
Yes. Your report belongs to you and you may share it with whoever you choose. Under the Equality Act 2010, employers are required to make reasonable adjustments for employees with disabilities — which includes neurodevelopmental conditions whether formally diagnosed or not. A NeuroVerify report demonstrating clinically significant screening results is a recognised basis for a workplace reasonable adjustments conversation.
Can I use my report for university or college disability services?
Yes. Many universities and colleges accept NeuroVerify screening results as supporting evidence for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) applications and disability services registration. A formal diagnosis is not always required. Contact your institution's disability services team with this report and ask about their requirements.
How long will it take to receive my report?
Your Stage 1 banded results summary is delivered within 7 working days of completing the screening. Reports are not issued before any safeguarding concern has been appropriately resolved.
What if I disagree with my results?
If you have any concerns about your results or their interpretation, please contact us. We take result accuracy seriously and are happy to discuss any aspect of your report. If you remain dissatisfied, you can raise a formal complaint under our complaints procedure, which is available on our website.
My child was assessed at school and found to be fine, is it worth screening?
Yes. School-based assessments have significant limitations. They are not diagnostic processes and the tools available to schools are not the same as clinically validated screening instruments. Many young people who appear fine at school are masking significant difficulties — holding themselves together during the day and struggling significantly at home. A NeuroVerify report goes well beyond what schools are equipped to assess.
Can I book a free discovery call before I decide?
Yes. A free 30 discovery call is available for anyone who would like to talk through their situation before choosing a package. We can answer questions about the process, help you identify the right tier and package for you, and address any concerns. Book at neuroverify.co.uk/discovery-call.
